Immediate Resignations
The horrific events currently playing out in Afghanistan will go down as one of the worst military blunders in U.S. history. Those responsible for this entirely avoidable bloodbath must immediately resign and be replaced by experienced leaders. That includes the ‘Acting’ Commander in Chief, the Secretary of Defense (Lloyd Austin), the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Mark Milley), the Chief of Naval Operations (Michael Gilday) and all others who were entrusted with planning and executing a coordinated, peaceful withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Brave Marine Colonel
We applaud Marine Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Scheller for bravely speaking up, knowing that it would probably mean losing his command and perhaps more. In ordinary times, we would disdain such ‘political’ comments by an active duty serviceman, especially delivered on social media. But, these are not ordinary times! Our country is under attack both from within and without! Our military ‘leaders’ have been more concerned about their own careers and the wokification of our armed forces than they have been about protecting our servicemen and women from harm and keeping our country safe.
Time for Veterans Organizations to Step Up
It’s time for our generally apolitical veterans organizations to step up to the plate and push back against the left-wing politicians now in charge of the military. It was encouraging to see a small step in this direction from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) this week. We need to hear much more from them and the American Legion must join them, as well. Our hearts go out the the service men and women who lost their lives in the tumultuous exit from Afghanistan and we salute all those who served there during the last twenty years.
