Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Charwoman of the Democratic Party, was on Soft Ball with Chris Matthews recently and was unable to articulate a difference between a Democrat and a Socialist. In so doing, she confirmed what has been obvious to most informed Americans…the Democratic Party has moved to the far left, while the Republican Party has remained center and center-right and now also includes what used to be the Kennedy Democrats. Tim Weiner joins a dwindling list of Nixon bashers with his new book, One Man against the World, purporting to advance new information about our 37th President. While the rest of the world has come to realize that Richard Nixon was one of the most important presidents of the 20th Century, Weiner makes the preposterous assertion that Nixon was a suicidal drunk who left the country unattended during his last years in office.
Not a Quitter
Anyone who has seriously studied Nixon and his presidency knows that above all, he was not a quitter. Nixon’s life and career were a series of mountains and valleys and even in the depths of despair, he always rose to the challenge of climbing the next hill. For such a man, resigning the presidency must have been the most difficult thing imaginable, yet he did it for the country he loved and served so well. In so doing, he spared us from a long, drawn out battle, which he knew he could not win. The overwhelming combined forces of the liberal media and a liberal Congress had been out to get him from day one. Despite having the odds stacked against him, suicide would have been out of the question for a man like Nixon and he would never have been derelict in his duties as president.
Last True Statesman
Perhaps Mr. Weiner can be forgiven for his distorted view of a great American president. After all, he has been a reporter for the New York Times, a flagging tabloid known principally for its liberal bias. In addition, he is a graduate of Columbia University, one of the most liberal institutions in the country. We are happy to see that at least Tim pronounces his last name according to the correct grammatical rules as in ‘whiner’, unlike the infamous Anthony Weiner who pronounces it as in ‘hotdog’. All that notwithstanding, thoughtful students of U.S. history will continue to regard Richard Nixon as one of the last true statesmen and one of the two best presidents of the past one hundred years.
A few liberal lawyers appointed to the Supreme Court by a non-Christian socialist do not have the power to edit or interpret the Bible. The definition of marriage is the same today as it was yesterday and the same as it has been for the past 3400 years. According to God’s holy word, marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman.
Americans have always had the right to pretend they are married to someone of the same sex or to fantasize that they are a woman when they are a man or to cross dress in a giraffe costume if they want …and that, too, will not change. Disturbed individuals have always been a part of society and they continue to need our love and our help. But we do not need to approve of their abnormal behavior or become enablers of some of their more extreme actions. Instead, we must continue to speak out against their relentless drive to remove the standards that distinguish our society as an advanced and civilized culture.
Many former Boy Scouts are disappointed in the direction the national Boy Scouts of America organization has taken in recent years. When admission standards were altered in 2013, many of us knew that this would just be the beginning of many changes planned by the progressives who have taken over leadership positions on the national board.
Gay Leaders
Recently, we learned that Robert Gates, former Secretary of Defense and current BSA president, is advocating for homosexual leaders of Boy Scout troops. Incidentally, Mr. Gates is the same SecDef who presided over the end of the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy, opening the door to sodomy in the barracks and eventual cross-dressing and sex change operations in the military. It is no coincidence that the BSA simultaneously placed a ban on squirt guns, in what some have described as an attempt to further emasculate the Scouts.
A Once Proud Organization
Before the Boy Scouts were taken over by the LGBT lobby, one of the most important aspects of the scouting experience was the outstanding adult male role models who were the leaders. They were leaders who boys could look up to and pattern their lives after. They were leaders to whom parents could entrust their children. I believe that boys and young men, as well as their families, need this now more than ever. Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time before the BSA will recommend changing the Boy Scout Laws and Boy Scout Oath to remove words like ‘morally straight’ and ‘reverent’.
Trail Life USA
After the initial BSA policy shift in 2013 a Christian based adventure program was organized, called Trail Life USA. In less than two years 524 troops have been established in 48 states with nearly 20,000 members, many of whom reluctantly had to leave their former scout troops. With the latest developments at Boy Scout Headquarters, it is expected that the number of these troops will skyrocket, with many more Scouts leaving BSA to join an organization that still advocates the principles that the Boy Scouts once proudly stood for. In fact, another 300 troops are in the process of being formed at this time. It was with a heavy heart that I made the decision to withdraw my financial support from the Boy Scouts of America and I now support Trail Life USA.
